BPL Squads 2026-27: All Teams Player List, Draft & Overseas Players
The night a BPL draft ends, every cricket group chat in Bangladesh turns into a transfer market. Someone claims their team got robbed, someone else insists an unknown 19-year-old is the next Mustafizur, and by morning half the squad lists circulating on Facebook are wrong.
So what are the BPL 2026-27 squads? They have not been picked yet. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has not confirmed the franchises, the draft date or the retention rules for the 2027 season, and no official player list exists. What we do have is the complete BPL 2026 squad for all six teams, which is the only accurate starting point until the next draft happens.
This page carries every 2026 squad in full, how the draft and retention system works, the overseas rules, and what usually changes between seasons.

Nothing above is a delay or a problem. BPL squads are normally settled four to six weeks before the tournament, so if the season starts in mid-January 2027 as expected, the draft would land somewhere around late November or December 2026.

How the BPL Draft and Auction Work
The BPL has used both a draft and an auction over the years, and the two get mixed up constantly. They are not the same thing.
Draft versus auction
In a draft, players sit in fixed price categories and teams take turns picking. Everyone in category A costs the same, so the competition is about pick order rather than money.
In an auction, teams bid against each other and prices float. That is how Mohammad Naim became the most expensive local player of BPL 2026 at 1.10 crore Bangladeshi taka.
BPL 2026 used an auction format for the main player pool. Whether 2027 repeats it is one of the things BCB has yet to confirm.
Player categories
Players are sorted into lettered grades, usually A through E, with a fixed fee attached to each. The top grade contains national team regulars and the biggest overseas names.
Lower grades are where franchises find value. A category C bowler who takes 16 wickets costs a fraction of a category A batter who scores 200 runs.
Direct signings
Franchises can also sign a small number of players directly before the draft, outside the normal process. Chattogram Royals used one of theirs on Mahedi Hasan, who then captained the side to the final.
Direct signings are how a franchise locks in a captain before anyone else can bid. It is usually the first move a new owner makes.
Retention
Retention lets a team keep a set number of players from the previous season without putting them back in the pool. Champion sides normally retain heavily, because breaking up a winning group is a hard sell to supporters.
BCB has not published the retention rules for 2027. Until it does, nobody knows how many players Rajshahi Warriors can keep from their title-winning squad.
Overseas Player Rules
Every BPL squad carries far more overseas players than it can actually field. Understanding why explains most of the odd-looking squad lists.
Four in the eleven
Only four overseas players can take the field in a single match. That number has been steady across recent BPL seasons.
So a squad of nine foreign signings is not a group of nine starters. It is a rotation pool built to survive international schedules pulling players away mid-tournament.
Why teams sign so many
Sylhet Titans carried ten overseas players in BPL 2026, including Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Angelo Mathews and Mohammad Amir. Those players do not all clear the same four weeks.
England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan all have their own fixtures in January and February. A franchise with only five foreign signings can easily find itself with three available.
The emergency replacement problem
Sometimes the plan collapses entirely. Chattogram Royals lost their owners the day before BPL 2026 started, and most of their drafted overseas players never arrived.
They played their opening match with an all-local eleven. Mirza Baig, Masood Gurbaz, Adam Rossington and Aamir Jamal were signed as replacements afterwards, and Rossington finished with the most keeping dismissals in the squad.
What this means when you read a squad list
A published squad tells you what a franchise planned. It does not tell you who played. Always check the replacement signings before assuming a name in the list actually turned out.

There is no single correct BPL squad size, and the 2026 lists ranged from 22 to 28 players.

What a balanced BPL squad looks like
The champions offer the clearest template. Rajshahi Warriors carried three wicketkeeping options, two left-arm spinners, four seamers who could bowl at the death, and six batters capable of scoring at pace.
Nine of their 24 could bowl four full overs. That matters in a tournament where injuries and national call-ups arrive without warning.
Where teams get it wrong
Dhaka Capitals carried three specialist wicketkeepers and a top order full of experienced names who did not score. Reputation is not the same as current form.
Noakhali carried four keepers across 28 players, which tells you the squad was assembled without a settled plan.
The spin question
Mirpur turns and slows, and roughly a third of every BPL season is played there. Squads that carry three frontline spinners tend to do better in the Dhaka phase than squads that carry three specialist quicks.

Draft value comes from last season’s numbers. These are the players whose 2026 returns will drive the bidding whenever the next auction happens.

Shoriful’s 26 is the number that stands out. It set a record for a single BPL season, and he did it while his franchise had no owners and no money.
Ripon Mondol is the value pick. Seventeen wickets from eight innings at 22 years old is the sort of return that moves a player up two price categories overnight.

A 22-year-old who tops the run charts and keeps wicket is the most useful cricketer in the league. If Sylhet Titans are allowed to retain one player, it will be Parvez Hossain Emon.
Under-the-radar names
Hassan Eisakhil arrived as an emergency replacement and outscored every marquee overseas signing at his franchise. Emergency signings who deliver rarely stay cheap.
Maruf Mridha of Dhaka Capitals is a 19-year-old left-arm quick with genuine pace. Nothing about his 2026 numbers demands attention, but the profile does.
The all-rounder shortage
Every BPL franchise wants a local all-rounder who can bat top six and bowl four overs. There are perhaps five of them in the country.
That is why Mahedi Hasan was Chattogram’s very first signing and why Mehidy Hasan Miraz captains Sylhet. Scarcity, not just ability, sets those prices.
What Usually Changes Between Seasons
BPL squads turn over more than squads in most franchise leagues. Some of that is by design and some of it is chaos.
Franchise names change
Four of the six BPL 2026 teams were either brand new or newly renamed. Only Dhaka Capitals and Rangpur Riders carried straight over from 2025.
So a “squad list” from one season may belong to a team that no longer exists under that name. Fortune Barishal, Comilla Victorians and Khulna Tigers all played in 2025 and none of them appeared in 2026.
Ownership changes take squads with them
When Triangle Services walked away from Chattogram Royals the night before the season, the drafted overseas group largely evaporated. Ownership stability and squad stability are the same thing in this league.
Standout performers get expensive
Ripon Mondol took 17 wickets in 8 innings as a 22-year-old. Shoriful Islam took 26 in a season. Both will be among the most contested names at the next draft.
Young Bangladeshi seamers who take wickets in bunches do not stay in the cheaper categories for long.
Champions retain, strugglers rebuild
Expect Rajshahi Warriors to keep their core of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mushfiqur Rahim, assuming the retention rules allow it.
Expect Dhaka Capitals to rebuild their batting entirely. A team whose top scorer makes 169 runs in ten matches does not need adjustments.
How to Read a BPL Squad Announcement
Squad news moves fast around a draft, and most of what circulates in the first hour is wrong. Here is how to tell signal from noise.
Check the source before the screenshot
Franchise social accounts and BCB publish first. Screenshots of lists with no logo, no date and no source are usually somebody’s guess.
Watch for the overseas asterisk
Published squad lists mark overseas players separately for a reason. A list of 24 names with 10 foreign signings gives a very different eleven than a list of 24 with 5.
Confirm the captain separately
Captaincy is often announced before or after the squad, not with it. Noakhali Express named Shykat Ali as captain and then handed the role to Haider Ali from their third match.
Assuming the biggest name is the captain is the most common mistake in BPL coverage.
Replacements are part of the squad
The drafted list is a plan. The played list is the reality, and in BPL 2026 those two were wildly different for at least one franchise.
Always look for replacement signings before judging how strong a squad actually was.
