BPL Venues 2026-27: Stadiums, Cities, Capacity & Pitch Reports
Six BPL teams are named after six cities. The tournament visits three of them. If you support Rangpur, Rajshahi or Noakhali, your team plays every single match somewhere else, which is a strange way to run a city-based league.
So which stadiums host the BPL? Recent seasons have used three grounds: Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, and Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The tournament moves between them in phases, starting in Sylhet, travelling to Chattogram, and finishing in Dhaka where the playoffs and final are played.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has not confirmed the venue list for BPL 2026-27. The three grounds above hosted the 2026 season and are the most likely hosts again, alongside the projected fixtures on our BPL Schedule 2026-27 page.
Sylhet International Cricket Stadium
This is the prettiest cricket ground in Bangladesh and nobody seriously argues about it. Tea hills rise behind the boundary, part of the seating is a green grass embankment, and on a clear January afternoon it looks like a photograph rather than a stadium.
The basics
Capacity sits around 18,500. The ground opened for international cricket in 2007 and has since hosted World Cup matches, Test cricket and every recent BPL opening phase.
The grass banks are unique in Bangladeshi cricket. Every other major ground in the country is concrete seating, so the atmosphere here feels different from the moment you arrive.
Pitch report
Sylhet is the friendliest surface in the BPL for batting. The outfield is quick, the bounce is even, and totals of 170 to 180 are normal rather than exceptional.
New-ball bowlers get a little movement in the first three or four overs. After that it flattens out and becomes a batting pitch, so the powerplay usually shapes the whole innings.
Dew and the toss
Dew arrives in the evening and makes the ball skid on. Captains who win the toss at night usually bowl first, because chasing gets easier once the ball stops gripping.
Spinners who keep a tight length still work here. Spinners who look for turn get hit into the tea hills.
What the numbers looked like in 2026
The Sylhet phase produced some of the biggest totals of the season. Sylhet Titans posted 190 for 5 against Rajshahi Warriors in the opening week and still lost by eight wickets, which tells you plenty about how the surface played.
Going in person
The ground sits a short ride from Sylhet city centre and is easy enough to reach. Gates typically open around two hours before the first ball.
January afternoons in Sylhet are pleasant rather than punishing, which is more than can be said for cricket in Bangladesh at most other times of year. If you attend one BPL leg in person, make it this one.

Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium
Locals call it the Sagorika ground because of where it sits in Chattogram. It is a proper cricket ground with a large playing area and a crowd that gets loud when the home side is chasing.
The basics
Capacity is roughly 22,000, and the ground opened for international cricket in 2006. It has hosted Tests, ODIs and every recent BPL middle phase.
The playing area is larger than Mirpur’s, which changes how teams set fields and how batters choose their shots.
Pitch report
Chattogram offers the truest surface of the three BPL venues. The bounce is even, the ball comes on to the bat, and batters generally enjoy it more than they enjoy Dhaka.
The highest team totals of a typical BPL season are usually scored here. Chattogram Royals posted 198 for 5 against Sylhet Titans during the 2026 campaign, one of the biggest scores of the tournament.
Sea breeze changes the evenings
This is the detail most sites miss. Chattogram sits near the coast, and the evening breeze gives swing bowlers more movement than they get anywhere else in the BPL.
Opening spells matter more here as a result. A seamer who can swing the new ball is worth more in Chattogram than at either of the other grounds.
Boundary shapes
Square boundaries run slightly longer than straight ones. Players who hit down the ground do better than pull-shot specialists, and it shows in the season statistics year after year.

Going in person
The stadium is a manageable ride from the city centre, though traffic near the ground gets heavy from about an hour before the first ball. Leaving early is the difference between seeing the toss and seeing the fifth over.
Chattogram matches usually offer the best value for entertainment. If you want high scores and a loud crowd rather than a tactical grind, this is the leg to attend.
The 2026 disruption
The Chattogram phase was eventually dropped from the revised BPL 2026 schedule following a period of national mourning. Those matches were redistributed, and the Dhaka phase started earlier than planned.
That is worth remembering when you read any BPL schedule. BCB has changed venues mid-tournament before and may do so again.
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium
Mirpur is the home of Bangladesh cricket. Every recent BPL final has been played here, including the 2026 final on 23 January, and it is where the tournament always ends.
The basics
Capacity sits around 25,000, and the ground opened for cricket in 2006. It has hosted the 2011 World Cup, several Asia Cups and the 2014 ICC World T20 final.
It is also the home ground of Dhaka Capitals, the only BPL franchise that actually plays in its own city.
Pitch report
Mirpur is the trickiest surface in the country and the reason so many BPL matches end in low-scoring finishes. The pitch grips, it turns, and it slows noticeably as a match goes on.
Chasing sides often find the ball stopping on them under lights. A total of 150 can be defendable here even though it looks small on a scoreboard.
Spinners run this ground
Sides that pick an extra slow bowler instead of an extra seamer usually get rewarded at Mirpur. Off-spin, left-arm orthodox and wrist spin all work, because the surface offers grip rather than one specific kind of turn.
The BPL 2026 final proved it. Rajshahi Warriors made 174 for 4, which looked ordinary, and Chattogram Royals were bowled out for 111 chasing it.
Why the final is always here
Three reasons. Largest capacity, best broadcast and media facilities, and easiest access for BCB officials, sponsors and international guests.
Moving the final elsewhere gets discussed every few seasons. So far it has always stayed in Dhaka, and nothing suggests 2027 will be different.
Going in person
Traffic in Mirpur on a match evening is its own sport. If the game starts at 6:30 PM and you leave home at 5:30 PM, you will hear the powerplay on the radio somewhere near Kazipara.
Security queues are long on big nights, particularly for the playoffs and final. Arriving ninety minutes early is not being cautious, it is being realistic.
Carry as little as possible. Bags, large bottles and outside food are usually refused at the gate, and the queue to sort it out is longer than the queue to get in.

Dhaka rewards spin
Three frontline spinners is not excessive at Mirpur, it is sensible. Sylhet Titans carried Nasum Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Moeen Ali all in the same squad.
Why the phase system matters
Because the tournament moves in blocks, a team can look brilliant for a week and then fall apart. A batting-heavy side that dominates the Sylhet phase may struggle badly once the tournament reaches Mirpur.

Home Grounds the BPL Does Not Use
Four of the six BPL 2026 franchises list a home ground that hosted no BPL cricket at all. This is one of the odder features of the league.

Why this happens
Broadcast infrastructure is the main reason. Producing a televised T20 match needs cameras, floodlights to a specific standard, media facilities and pitch preparation that only a handful of Bangladeshi grounds can support.
Logistics matter too. Moving six squads, officials, broadcast crews and equipment between more cities in a four-week window gets expensive and complicated fast.
What it costs the league
Supporters in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Noakhali have a team but never see it play. That makes building a genuine local fanbase almost impossible.
It hit Noakhali Express hardest of all. A brand new franchise in its first season played all ten matches away from its own district, which is a difficult way to start.
Will it change?
Widening the venue list has been discussed for years. Rajshahi, Khulna and Bogura are the grounds most often mentioned as candidates.
Nothing has been announced for BPL 2026-27. Until BCB says otherwise, expect the same three-city rotation.

Friday games start later so people can attend after Jummah prayers. It is a small scheduling detail that tells you a lot about how the tournament is built around its audience.
Day matches in January are comfortable at all three venues. Night matches bring dew, which is why the toss becomes more interesting after dark.
How the Venue Phases Work
The BPL does not jump between cities at random. It moves in blocks, and knowing the pattern helps you plan travel or tickets.

Why Dhaka goes last
The playoffs and final are always at Mirpur, so it makes no sense to visit Dhaka early and come back. Finishing there means the tournament ends where it needs to end.
It also means the Dhaka phase carries the highest stakes. Teams arrive with qualification on the line and play on the hardest surface of the three.
Why Sylhet goes first
Sylhet produces high scores and a good atmosphere, which is exactly what you want in an opening week when the tournament is trying to build momentum.
It also gives Sylhet Titans four home matches at the start, the longest home run any franchise gets.
What happens when a phase gets cancelled
BCB dropped the Chattogram leg from the revised BPL 2026 schedule and redistributed those matches. The Dhaka phase then started on 15 January instead of later.
So the phase structure is a plan, not a promise. Always check the current fixture list rather than assuming last season’s pattern still applies.
Attending a BPL Match: Practical Guide
A few things are worth knowing before you travel to any of the three grounds.
Arrive earlier than you think
Security queues run long at all three venues and become severe at Mirpur for playoffs and the final. Ninety minutes before the first ball is the sensible target.
Check your gate number
Stadiums route entry by stand rather than letting everyone in through one place. Walking around the outside of a ground to find the right gate takes a surprising amount of time.
Carry as little as possible
Bags, large bottles and outside food are usually refused. Sorting that out at the gate takes longer than the queue itself.
Day matches versus night matches
Day games in January are comfortable at all three grounds. Night matches are cooler and bring dew, which changes how the cricket plays.
If you are taking children, the afternoon games finish at a reasonable hour. Night matches at Mirpur end close to 10 PM, and then there is the traffic.

What par score actually means
Par is the total that gives a team a genuine chance rather than a guaranteed win. At Sylhet you need 175 to feel comfortable. At Mirpur, 160 already feels above par.
That 20-run gap is the single biggest tactical difference in the tournament. A batting order set up for Sylhet has to change how it plays once the tournament reaches Dhaka.
Why the 2026 final proves the point
Rajshahi Warriors made 174 for 4 at Mirpur and won by 63 runs. The same total at Sylhet would have been chased down comfortably.
Chattogram Royals were bowled out for 111 chasing it, on a surface where the ball had stopped coming on by the tenth over. Their season ended on a pitch that punished exactly the strengths that had carried them there.
