BPL Records: Most Runs, Wickets, Best Figures & 25+ All-Time Milestones
BPL records tell the story of the Bangladesh Premier League better than any highlights package. From Chris Gayle’s sixes in a final to Taskin Ahmed’s seven-wicket spell and Shoriful Islam’s record season, the numbers show who really dominated Bangladesh’s biggest T20 league since it started in 2012.

This guide collects the most important BPL records in one place: all-time leading run scorers and wicket-takers, best bowling figures, centuries in finals, hat-tricks, team records, title records and the single-season marks that the 2026-27 season could challenge.

BPL Batting Records
Batting BPL records are dominated by Bangladeshi players, which says a lot about how hard Mirpur pitches can be for visiting batters who play only one season.
Most Runs in BPL History
Tamim Iqbal is the leading run scorer in BPL history with 3,835 runs. He has played for several franchises, captained Fortune Barishal to their first title in 2024, and stayed one of the league’s most consistent openers for more than a decade.
The leaderboard has changed a lot over time. Ahead of the fifth season in 2017, Mushfiqur Rahim led with 1,172 runs, followed by Mahmudullah on 1,088 and Tamim on 1,026. Tamim has since pulled far ahead of everyone.
| Era | Leading Run Scorer | Runs at the Time |
|---|---|---|
| Before Season 5 (2017) | Mushfiqur Rahim | 1,172 |
| Before Season 5 (2017) | Mahmudullah | 1,088 |
| Before Season 5 (2017) | Tamim Iqbal | 1,026 |
| Current all-time record | Tamim Iqbal | 3,835 |
Why Local Batters Lead
Overseas batters rarely play every season, so they cannot build long-term totals. Bangladeshi players such as Tamim, Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah have appeared in almost every edition, which gives them a huge advantage in career BPL records.
Highest Individual Scores
Chris Gayle’s unbeaten 146 for Rangpur Riders in the 2017-18 final remains the most famous innings in BPL history. He hit 18 sixes against Dhaka Dynamites and almost single-handedly won Rangpur their only title.
Tamim Iqbal made an unbeaten 141 in the 2019 final for Comilla Victorians against Dhaka Dynamites, another innings that decided a title.
Centuries in BPL Finals
Only three batters have scored a century in a BPL final. Tanzid Hasan Tamim joined that list in January 2026 when he made a hundred against Chattogram Royals and won Player of the Final.
| Batter | Team | Final | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Gayle | Rangpur Riders | 2017-18 | 146* |
| Tamim Iqbal | Comilla Victorians | 2019 | 141* |
| Tanzid Hasan Tamim | Rajshahi Warriors | 2026 | Century |
Fastest Fifties
Sunil Narine smashed a 13-ball fifty for Comilla Victorians in the second qualifier of the 2022 season, one of the fastest half-centuries the league has seen. Narine’s opening blitzes were a big reason Comilla won so many titles.
Recent Season Top Scorers
| Season | Top Run Scorer | Team | Runs |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Parvez Hossain Emon | Sylhet Titans | 395 |
| 2024 | Tamim Iqbal | Fortune Barishal | 492 (team of the tournament figure) |
| 2016-17 | Tamim Iqbal | Chittagong Vikings | 476 |
Parvez Hossain Emon’s 395 runs in 2026 came while he also kept wicket, which made him one of the most valuable players in the league. You can see every 2026 roster on our BPL squads page.
BPL Bowling Records
The bowling BPL records have been rewritten in the last two seasons. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam both set new marks that will be very hard to beat.
Most Wickets in BPL History
Shakib Al Hasan holds the all-time record with 149 BPL wickets. He has been the league’s leading wicket-taker for most of its history; ahead of the 2017 season he already led with 61, just ahead of Kevon Cooper on 60.
| Era | Leading Wicket-Taker | Wickets at the Time |
|---|---|---|
| Before Season 5 (2017) | Shakib Al Hasan | 61 |
| Before Season 5 (2017) | Kevon Cooper | 60 |
| Current all-time record | Shakib Al Hasan | 149 |
Best Bowling Figures in an Innings
Taskin Ahmed holds the best bowling figures in BPL history: 7 for 19 for Durbar Rajshahi against Dhaka Capitals at Mirpur in the 2025 season. He took four wickets in his first three overs and three more in the final over of the innings.
That spell broke Mohammad Amir’s previous record six-wicket haul for Khulna Tigers against Rajshahi Royals in 2020.
| Rank | Figures | Bowler | Team | Opponent | Season |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 7/19 | Taskin Ahmed | Durbar Rajshahi | Dhaka Capitals | 2025 |
| 2 | 6/17 | Mohammad Amir | Khulna Tigers | Rajshahi Royals | 2020 |
| 4 | 5/7 | Faheem Ashraf | Fortune Barishal | Sylhet Strikers | 2025 |
Faheem Ashraf’s Remarkable Spell
Faheem Ashraf’s 5 for 7 came from just 3.1 overs, with 15 dot balls out of 19 deliveries. It ranked as the fourth-best figures in BPL history and the best ever for a Barishal franchise.
Most Wickets in a Single Season
Shoriful Islam took 26 wickets for Chattogram Royals in BPL 2026, a new record for a single BPL season. He did it while his franchise had no owners, and he was named Player of the Series.
Shoriful also led the wicket charts in 2024 with 22 for Durdanto Dhaka. Taskin Ahmed took 25 wickets in the 2025 season for Durbar Rajshahi, the mark Shoriful went past a year later.
| Season | Leading Wicket-Taker | Team | Wickets |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Shoriful Islam | Chattogram Royals | 26 (record) |
| 2025 | Taskin Ahmed | Durbar Rajshahi | 25 |
| 2024 | Shoriful Islam | Durdanto Dhaka | 22 |
BPL Hat-Tricks
Hat-tricks are rare in T20 cricket, and BPL records show only a small group of bowlers have managed one.
- Mrittunjoy Chowdhury became the first player to take two BPL hat-tricks, with his second coming for Rangpur Riders in 2026.
- Ripon Mondol took a hat-trick for Rajshahi Warriors against Dhaka Capitals in 2026, the eleventh in BPL history.
Rangpur’s role in these BPL records is notable. The franchise has produced both a hat-trick milestone and the most famous final innings, and the full story sits on our Rangpur Riders page.
BPL Team Records
Team BPL records reflect how much the league has changed. Several of the most successful franchises no longer exist under their old names.
Most BPL Titles
| Team | Titles | Winning Seasons |
|---|---|---|
| Comilla Victorians | 4 | 2015-16, 2019, 2022, 2023 |
| Dhaka franchise | 3 | 2012, 2013 (Gladiators), 2016-17 (Dynamites) |
| Fortune Barishal | 2 | 2024, 2025 |
| Rajshahi franchise | 2 | 2019-20 (Royals), 2026 (Warriors) |
| Rangpur Riders | 1 | 2017-18 |
The complete season-by-season champions and runners-up list is on our BPL winners list page.
Most Runners-Up Finishes
The Chattogram franchise has reached the final three times without winning: 2013 as Chittagong Kings, 2025 as Chittagong Kings again, and 2026 as Chattogram Royals. It has played in every BPL edition since 2012 but never lifted the trophy.
Lowest Team Totals
Khulna Titans were bowled out for 44 against Rangpur Riders in the 2016-17 season, long recorded as the lowest total in BPL history. By 2017, the ten lowest totals in the league had all been made in Dhaka, which tells you how difficult Mirpur pitches can be.
High-Scoring Era
Seven totals of 200 or more were recorded in the first four BPL seasons, all before the league’s suspension after 2013. Scoring dropped for several years afterwards as pitches became slower, before Chattogram and Sylhet brought bigger totals back in recent seasons.
Highest Partnership
Lou Vincent and Shahriar Nafees put on an unbeaten 197 in an early BPL season, a partnership that stood as the league’s highest for years.
BPL Final Records
Finals produce some of the most memorable BPL records, because the pressure is highest and the crowds are biggest.
| Final Record | Details |
|---|---|
| Highest individual score in a final | Chris Gayle, 146* (2017-18) |
| Narrowest margin | Comilla Victorians beat Fortune Barishal by 1 run (2022) |
| Recent big margin | Rajshahi Warriors beat Chattogram Royals by 63 runs (2026) |
| Best figures in a recent final | Binura Fernando, 4 for 9 (2026) |
| Usual venue | Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur |
BPL Captaincy Records
Mashrafe Mortaza is the most successful captain in BPL history. By 2017, he had led his teams in 45 matches, tied with Mahmudullah for the most as captain, and recorded 30 wins with three titles. He then led Rangpur Riders to the 2017-18 title, taking his tally to four.
| Captain | Titles | Teams |
|---|---|---|
| Mashrafe Mortaza | 4 | Dhaka Gladiators (2), Comilla Victorians, Rangpur Riders |
| Tamim Iqbal | 2 | Fortune Barishal (2024, 2025) |
| Najmul Hossain Shanto | 1 | Rajshahi Warriors (2026) |
Appearance Records
Long careers in the BPL belong almost entirely to Bangladeshi players. Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman were the only players with more than 50 BPL matches by 2017, and senior national players have added many more since.
Mushfiqur Rahim was still playing in 2026 at 38, keeping wicket and scoring 244 runs for the champions. Few players in any T20 league have stayed relevant for so long.
BPL Records Set in the 2026 Season
The 12th season was one of the most record-heavy in league history. Here are the BPL records and milestones set in 2026.
| Milestone | Player or Team | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Most wickets in a season | Shoriful Islam | 26 wickets for Chattogram Royals |
| First to two BPL hat-tricks | Mrittunjoy Chowdhury | Rangpur Riders |
| 11th hat-trick in BPL history | Ripon Mondol | Rajshahi Warriors vs Dhaka Capitals |
| Third century in a final | Tanzid Hasan Tamim | Rajshahi Warriors vs Chattogram Royals |
| Best figures in the final | Binura Fernando | 4 for 9 |
| Career milestone | Mustafizur Rahman | Reached 400 T20 wickets |
| Career milestone | Binura Fernando | Passed 150 T20 wickets |
Why 2026 Was a Record Year
Several factors came together. Pace bowlers thrived on livelier surfaces in Sylhet and Chattogram, young local quicks were given more overs, and the six-team format meant every side played quality opposition in every match. The result was a season that rewrote several bowling BPL records at once.
Overseas Players in BPL Records
Overseas players have left a big mark on BPL records, even though few of them play enough seasons to lead the career tables.
| Player | Country | BPL Record or Moment |
|---|---|---|
| Chris Gayle | West Indies | 146* in the 2017-18 final, the highest score in a BPL final |
| Kevon Cooper | West Indies | 60 wickets in the first four seasons, second only to Shakib at the time |
| Mohammad Amir | Pakistan | Held the best bowling figures until 2025 |
| Sunil Narine | West Indies | 13-ball fifty in a 2022 qualifier |
| Faheem Ashraf | Pakistan | 5 for 7, fourth-best figures in BPL history |
| Binura Fernando | Sri Lanka | 4 for 9 in the 2026 final |
| Lou Vincent | New Zealand | Part of the unbeaten 197-run stand with Shahriar Nafees |
Why Locals Dominate Career BPL Records
Overseas stars usually play one or two seasons for one franchise before moving on. Bangladeshi players stay in the league for a decade or more, which is why the career BPL records for runs, wickets and appearances all belong to locals.
BPL Records by Venue
Each ground produces its own type of record. Understanding venue patterns explains why many BPL records were set where they were.
| Venue | Typical Record Pattern |
|---|---|
| Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur | Lowest totals and best bowling figures, including Taskin’s 7 for 19 |
| Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram | Higher team totals and big individual scores |
| Sylhet International Cricket Stadium | Fast scoring, with totals of 170 to 180 common |
BPL Records That Could Fall in 2027
The 13th season will give several players the chance to rewrite BPL records. Here are the marks worth watching.
Single-Season Wickets
Shoriful Islam’s 26 wickets is the target. A bowler would likely need to play in the playoffs and keep up a high strike rate to pass it.
All-Time Runs
Tamim Iqbal’s 3,835 is far ahead of active challengers. Nobody is likely to catch him in one season, but players such as Mushfiqur and Litton Das can climb the list.
All-Time Wickets
Shakib Al Hasan’s 149 is also well clear. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam are the active bowlers most likely to move closer over the next few seasons.
Hat-Trick Club
Every hat-trick adds a name to a short list. With Ripon Mondol and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury both young, a third BPL hat-trick for one player is not impossible.
Unusual BPL Records and Trivia
Not all BPL records are about runs and wickets. Some of the league’s most interesting facts come from its unusual history.
- A missing season: no BPL was held in 2014, so the season numbers and calendar years have never lined up.
- Name changes: the Sylhet franchise has used seven different names since 2012, more than any other team.
- Always a finalist city: a Chattogram-based team has played in every edition but has never won the title.
- BCB-run season: in 2019-20, the BCB ran the tournament itself and owned all the teams after a dispute with franchises.
- All-local XI: Chattogram Royals played their opening match of BPL 2026 with only local players after their owners left.
- Trophy by air: the 2026 trophy arrived at Mirpur by helicopter before the final.
How BPL Records Are Kept
Official statistics come from the BCB and established cricket databases such as ESPNcricinfo. Because franchises often change names, records are usually listed under the name a team used in the season the record was set.
This can cause confusion. A record set by “Durbar Rajshahi” and one set by “Rajshahi Warriors” belong to the same franchise but appear under different names. When you read BPL records, always check the season as well as the team name.

Final Thoughts on BPL Records
BPL records show a league shaped by local legends and unforgettable overseas cameos. Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan own the career marks, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam have set new bowling standards in the last two seasons, and Chris Gayle’s 146 not out still defines what a BPL final can look like.
The 2026-27 season will bring new names into these tables. Keep an eye on the young pace bowlers in particular, because the most recent BPL records have all been set by Bangladeshi quicks.
